The band will play a swag of high profile shows over the coming months taking them right through to New Years Eve. There’s no rest for the wicked, right?

The current crop of dates will support the release of the band’s brand new single “World’s Collide.” However that just seems like an excuse to play some of the country’s coolest festivals and get together with some other big name Aussie acts.

After being holed up in a studio for most of the year, Calling All Cars are ready to unleash their new material.

“Reptile” is our first taste of the as yet-untitled album, the band’s follow-up to Hold, Hold, Fire! It’ll be released on May 1, and I hear it “shakes, rattles, and rolls like a cut snake!”

You can hear that tune and more when Calling All Cars launch the single with shows in the major capitals next month. After so much time in the studio, you can bet they’re itching to get out on stage. Prepare for a blistering set when the band hits the following venues.

27 May 2011 – Spectrum, Sydney
28 May 2011 – The Step Inn, Brisbane
3 June 2011 – Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
10 June 2011 – Jive, Adelaide

Way to go Calling All Cars! The Melbourne rockers have been handpicked to support Queens of the Stone Age on their Soundwave sideshows.

Clearly big name acts are seeing something special in our boys. AC/DC picked Calling All Cars as their support act last year, and now they’ve earned a place on another red hot show.

Make sure you turn up early at the gigs, March 2 at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and March 3 at Melbourne’s Palace, to see Calling All Cars in action. They’re promising to play a few new tunes from their forthcoming second album, so their sets should be something pretty special!

Brisbane’s Numbers Radio and Perth’s Young Revelry will come along for the ride.
