A New Dawn for Pacific

After impressing me with the self-titled debut EP last year, the lads from West Australian indie-pop act Pacific prove they’re no one-trick ponies with the release of a brand new single “Dawn.”

The band effortlessly blends shimmery synth sounds with a rock feel here. It’s epic and angsty, yet hopeful. You can check it out via TheMusic.com.au.

“We wanted this song to sound and feel different to anything we’ve written before,” Callum Byrne explained in a press release. “Darkness is the absence of light, and I feel like it’s a place where we are stretched and refined. With dawn being the first appearance of light, it breathes change. We wanted to try and reflect this sentiment both musically and lyrically throughout the song.”

“Dawn” takes everything I loved about Pacific and builds on it beautifully. You can hear more new songs when the trio launches the single at Albany’s White Star Hotel on March 3 and Perth’s Amplifier on March 4.

Eliza Hull Releases Long Awaited “Dawn” EP

Melbourne songstress Eliza Hull is preparing to unleash her debut EP Dawn on the public.

After three years perfecting her craft, Eliza’s laid down seven breathtaking tracks including the first single “Without Words.”

“’Without Words’ is about the pull and shift within a relationship and the questioning that can often happen,” Eliza explained. “It captures the beautiful confusion love can stir inside us. It’s one of the earlier songs written for the EP and is still one of my favourites.”

The disc has a compelling organic quality which comes from shunning big budget studios and opting to record in garages, churches, and home studios. Although perhaps that may have come from necessity, as Eliza funded the release herself. You’ve got to admire that sort of commitment!

You can show your support by picking up a copy of Dawn when it hits stores and iTunes on May 18, or seeing Eliza launch the disc at Melbourne’s The Toff in Town on May 31.

Eliza Hull Offers Delicious Taste of Debut EP

Eliza Hull has created a sultry slice of soulful pop with her new single “Without Words.” The empassioned track is the first lifted from her forthcoming EP Dawn.

Dawn is the culmination of three years of commitment to her craft. It shows that she’s put in the hard yards. The song is so hypnotic, with vocals that draw you in and one of the prettiest electronic melodies I’ve heard in some time.

“‘Without Words’ is about the pull and shift within a relationship and the questioning that can often happen,” Eliza explained in a press release. “It captures the beautiful confusion love can stir inside us.”

Eliza will celebrate her EP’s launch at Melbourne’s The Toff on May 31. The wonderful Sophie Koh is also on the bill, so it should be a pretty amazing night!
