Motor Ace Releases Comeback Single, “Knock Knock”

Don’t mistake Motor Ace’s return to the music scene as one resting on nostalgia. The release of their new single “Knock Knock” proves these guys have got more hits left in them. With hard-rocking riffs and solid vocals from Patrick Robertson, this track might just be worth the 17-year wait.

“It’s an idea that was kicking around back in the day, but we never got around to finishing it,” Pat admitted. “We’d always loved the sound, but it was written between the first and second records and didn’t really fit with what we were aiming for on the second. Probably should have finished it then!”

Motor Ace are gearing up to tour the country to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Five Star Laundry. Tickets are selling fast, so get them while you can!

Motor Ace Reunion Shows On the Way

The early 2000s were such a fertile time in Aussie music. As a young 20-something I had a limited income, so there were a bunch of great acts I didn’t see. It was also a pre-Spotify era. Kids, you don’t know how good you’ve got it, being able to listen to whatever album you want without investing money at your local Sanity or JB Hi-Fi. So at that time a few great Aussie acts invariably slipped through my net. Bands like Motor Ace. After hearing the band is touring the country again, I’m making up for lost time. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve listened to Five Star Laundry since I got that tour announcement. What a great album that is.

Motor Ace’s forthcoming Five Star Reunion national tour celebrates the band’s 20-year anniversary. It seems plenty of music fans are hungry for it, because shows are already close to selling out, despite the gigs being around six months away. Don’t delay in snapping yours up if you’re ready for another helping of this beloved Aussie rock band.

From the Ashes of Motor Ace, Meet Nighthawk

As we look for the next big thing in music, I think we sometimes forget about the value of classic sounds. Nighthawk reminds us with its debut single “Surely Getting On.”

This is the kind of straight up honest rock music I remember hearing in pubs when I first started seeing bands. We shouldn’t be surprised though, because Nighthawk features members of Motor Ace, who were one of the biggest acts of the early 2000s.

“The fire that compelled me to make music in the first place was extinguished by the end of Motor Ace. I was young and took every kink in the road harder than I should have. I do have some regrets about not enjoying the great music we made and our success a little more,” explained founding member Patrick Robertson.

“Nighthawk comes from a very different place. It was a party before it was a band. There’s a simplicity about the music and the attitude. I haven’t felt as excited about a group of musicians and making music for a very long time. I think you can hear it.”

“Surely Getting On” is our first taste of Nighthawk’s upcoming album. After experiencing it, I’m hungry for more.
