Pacific Releases Feel-Good New Rock Anthem “Wild Mind”

It feels like I’ve been waiting forever to share “Wild Mind,” the latest single from indie pop trio Pacific, with you. In truth I only heard it a little more than a month ago on one of those advance streams, but it feels like I’ve known this song a lot longer. It’s just got that wonderfully familiar feel about it, with its infectious hooks and epic vocals. It’s everything I’ve loved about Pacific’s past releases, but dare I say it just a little bit better?

“I think Wild Mind is a song that everyone can relate to,” the band said in a press release. “Every day when you turn on the radio or scroll through your newsfeed, you’re just bombarded with issues that make the world seem like a terrible place. For me, I feel like it gets to a point where you need to take things into your own hands and play your little part to make the world around you a little less dark.”

So crank this one up and remember that no matter how bleak things seem, there is always some good if you look in the right places.

A New Dawn for Pacific

After impressing me with the self-titled debut EP last year, the lads from West Australian indie-pop act Pacific prove they’re no one-trick ponies with the release of a brand new single “Dawn.”

The band effortlessly blends shimmery synth sounds with a rock feel here. It’s epic and angsty, yet hopeful. You can check it out via TheMusic.com.au.

“We wanted this song to sound and feel different to anything we’ve written before,” Callum Byrne explained in a press release. “Darkness is the absence of light, and I feel like it’s a place where we are stretched and refined. With dawn being the first appearance of light, it breathes change. We wanted to try and reflect this sentiment both musically and lyrically throughout the song.”

“Dawn” takes everything I loved about Pacific and builds on it beautifully. You can hear more new songs when the trio launches the single at Albany’s White Star Hotel on March 3 and Perth’s Amplifier on March 4.

Pacific EP – Pacific

I love coming across music that sparks something in me, songs that I have an instant connection with. Just one song won’t do. I need to hear more and get a more complete sense of who that artist is. So after listening to “Edge of Nowhere,” I had to fire up the advance stream of Pacific’s self-titled EP. In just five tracks I learned that these guys are certainly the real deal.

The EP commences with the feel-good lead single “Edge of Nowhere.” No matter how many times I hear this song, it sounds so fresh and fun. The second track, “Fade Away,” shows there’s more to this band that upbeat energy. This is a nuanced number, full of longing and love. It’s got lush, epic instrumentation, but there’s also a fragility to the lyrics I really responded to. There’s a similar anthemic feel to the chorus of “Wide Eyes,” although the quirky pace of the verses gives this track its own identity. I love the driving energy of “Clarity.” I can imagine zooming down the freeway blasting this one with the windows rolled down. Driftwood is the most tender song on the EP and the most beautiful. It’s gentle and laidback, an understated closer to an EP that shows so much passion.

All of the songs on Pacific’s EP are so different. They show a band who is truly well rounded, with such a well-developed sound. Pacific are a real find. Apparently there are some live shows in the works, which should only further prove how good this Perth band are.

Pacific Spread Good Vibes with “Edge of Nowhere”

It’s pretty easy to feel good on days like today. That long weekend is fast approaching, and if you’re in New South Wales like me the gloomy weather we’ve been plagued with has started to clear. It’s like Mother Nature knows we’ve got time off!

All those good vibes deserve a track like “Edge of Nowhere,” the killer new single from Perth band Pacific. It’s got awesome harmonies and such a chill summery vibe. Even in autumn, it goes down a treat.

The single officially drops on April 1, the same day Pacific releases their self-titled EP. Apparently we can look forward to more catchy hooks, driving rhythms, and honest lyrics on the five-track release. You can get the single as an instant download when you pre-order Pacific’s EP.
