Busby Marou Scores Number One Album

I’ve had such a busy day, but I couldn’t leave it before congratulating Busby Marou on claiming the number one spot with Postcards from the Shell House. I love this album, as I do everything Busby Marou has released, so I’m thrilled to see the Queensland duo claiming their first number one. It’s a good thing they were representing the Aussies too, because they’re the only local act in the top 10 albums charts.

Ed Sheeran’s dominance doesn’t leave a lot of space for too many other acts, but we do have a few Aussies on the singles charts. Pnau leads the charge with “Chameleon” at number eight, just a couple of spots ahead of “Adore” by Amy Shark.

Kasey Chambers Tops ARIA Charts

I’m thrilled to see Kasey Chambers’ excellent new album Dragonfly sitting at the top of the ARIA charts this week. Dragonfly is the first Aussie album to score the coveted number one possie and Kasey’s fifth number one album, after Barricades & Brickwalls (#1 in February ’02), Wayward Angel (#1 June ’04), Carnival (#1 June ’04) and her collaboration with Shane Nicholson, Rattlin’ Bones (#1 April ’08).

The influence of the Tamworth Country Music Festival has no doubt influenced this week’s charts, with Kasey keeping company in the top 10 with some other notable Aussie country acts. The McClymonts are at number six with Endless, while the perennially popular Ripcord by Keith Urban is at number 10.

Our dance acts are dominating over on the singles charts. “Chameleon” by Pnau sits at number 7 while Starley rounds out the top 10 with “Call On Me – Ryan Riback Remix.”

Eskimo Joe & PNAU Play Live at the Chapel

Following on from The Vines’ appearance earlier this year, Eskimo Joe and PNAU will play the next Russian Standard Vodka Live at the Chapel show. The Aussie acts will rock St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in the Sydney suburb of Newtown on November 23.

This is the first time the Live at the Chapel series has delivered a double act, and it’s sure to be a great night with both acts enjoying great success with recent releases.

Eskimo Joe are at the top of their game, having just scored six ARIA Award nominations, they are the finest rock act in the country, and PNAU are smashing it overseas, they look destined for global success,” said MCM media’s chief exec Simon Joyce. “To be able to present them on the same stage is a defining moment for Live At The Chapel, we’re in for a very special evening.”

As always this Russian Standard Vodka Live at the Chapel show is only for competition winners. For your chance to be amongst them head to the Live at the Chapel website.

Elton John Loves PNAU

PNAU are one step closer to cracking the elusive European market thanks to an unexpected fan: Elton John. The flamboyant British singer is such a big supporter of the Aussie dance outfit, he’s just signed them up with his management company.

Toni Collette encouraged Elton to see the band while he was here on tour last December. He did, and was so impressed he bought dozens of copies of their latest album. He’s also stayed in touch with the lads, and become an invaluable support.

“We talk more about art than business and hopefully introducing us to that part of London, artists like Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin and Sam Taylor-Wood,” Nick Littlemore told The Daily Telegraph.

“His tenacity is something we admire because it’s something we have had from day one, always trying to do something new. And when we’re worried about money and how much it is going to cost to record there, he reminds us we’ll be able to use the studio he is building there.”

With offers like that, the Aussie lads must be feeling very good indeed!
