The Harlots Rock Out With “Umma Gumma”

Melbourne band The Harlots show they’re a rock force to be reckoned with with the release of new single “Umma Gumma.” It’s dirty, bluesy, and full of raw power. You just can’t help but be swept along for the ride.

“Umma Gumma” tells the familiar story of being trapped in that moment when you know a relationship is over but you haven’t managed to escape it yet. Its spontaneous sound comes from the decision to record the track live onto reel to reel tape. Using old-school technology makes it feel much more authentic than new recordings which can get a little too polished.

The Harlots plan to tour Australia in October and November to coincide with the release of their brand new album.

The Harlots Unleash “High Roller”

Melbourne rock act The Harlots have delivered a dirty, sexy new single “High Roller.”

I love the grungy funkiness of this track. It also has a really old school feel, perhaps because it was recorded through old-school pre-amps onto reel to reel tape.

“High Roller” comes from The Harlots’ debut album, which will be released in the coming months. You can hear some of the songs to come at the following upcoming shows.

12 May 2016 – Frankies Pizza, Sydney
14 May 2016 – Dicey Riley’s, Wollongong
20 May 2016 – Crown & Anchor, Adelaide
21 May 2016 – The Loft, Warnambool

The Harlots Disgust & Amuse with “Got No Soul” Video

Feel like seeing something that’s hilariously wrong? Well feast your eyes on the music video for “Got No Soul,” the latest single from The Harlots. In it we see one man’s search for Miss Right thwarted by his affections for a children’s rocking horse. Just your average love story, isn’t it?

The clip’s more than a little bizarre, but that only makes this song that much sweeter. I love the gritty vocals and swaggering bass line. Make sure you catch those offbeat lyrics too!
