The Ten Tenors Pay Tribute to Late Musicians In Milestone Album

It’s hard to believe The Ten Tenors have been making music for the last 20 years. To celebrate the milestone, the acclaimed Aussie group has just released its first album for Sony Masterworks, Wish You Were Here. The album pays tribute to some of our most loved, dearly departed performers of our time, including David Bowie, Amy Winehouse, Jon English, and Prince.

I must admit, listening to it, I thought I knew what to expect. I expected music to please the oldies, the big torch songs with operatic leanings. And this album certainly delivered that with epic performances of tracks like “Hallelujah” and “Six Ribbons.” But there’s also some really funky contemporary stuff, like stellar versions of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and the title track “Wish You Were Here.”

After recently completing yet another sold-out tour of the United States, the lads are in fine form and ready to wow Australian crowds at the following shows.

The Ten Tenors Get Festive for Children’s Hospital Foundation

‘Tis the season to create really corny music videos, according to The Ten Tenors. The clip for their latest single “All I Want for Christmas is You” is to Woolworths what those terrible Down, Down ads are to Coles. With one important exception: it’s all for a good cause.

Yes this clip is a total car crash. But the Ten Tenors are some of the country’s best singers. This track is just one of the holiday songs featured on their new album Our Christmas Wish. All net profits from the album will benefit the Children’s Hospital Foundation. You can get a copy from Woolworths stores in Queensland and Northern New South Wales and via iTunes worldwide.

After they’re done spreading Christmas cheer, The Ten Tenors will embark the Power of TEN tour, which will hit theatres all around the country next year.

The Ten Tenors Do Broadway

One of Australia’s most respected vocal acts, The Ten Tenors, will celebrate classic musicals with their new tour, The Ten Tenors on Broadway. They’ll warm up in the United States before bringing the shows back to their home turf from May.

This is the Ten Tenors like you’ve never seen them before, putting their own spin on iconic tunes from Oklahoma, Jersey Boys, Wicked, Phantom the Opera, West Side Story, Miss Saigon, and heaps more. An all-female string section and orchestration from the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra will bring these showstoppers to a brand new level.

“The On Broadway show is the best example yet of what this group can deliver, and they are thrilled to be performing such powerful repertoire,” said their producer D-J Wendt. “I guarantee this live show will have audiences coming back for more.”

And with plenty of shows on the schedule, fans can do just that!

The Ten Tenors Tour Diverse “Double Platinum” Album

The Ten Tenors are an Aussie institution, with the stuff it takes to woo mums and nannas across the country, and even a visiting Oprah Winfrey. They’ve sold around 200, 000 albums, toured five continents, and played everywhere from our own Opera House to the Royal Albert Hall. And now they’ve got a brand new album out on July 15.

Double Platinum, an ambitious double album, shows The Ten Tenors in unexpectedly eclectic mode. The usual suspects like “Nessun Dorma,” “O Fortuna,” and “Bring Him Home” from Les Mis are all represented on the second disc, but the first is pretty surprising. I never imagined I’d hear The Ten Tenors tackling Meatloaf, Queen, or Leonard Cohen, but they do.

Those musical risks should see The Ten Tenors appealing to a much younger audience when they make their way around the country this August. Here are all the places you can check out this incredible vocal group.
