1. It’s impossible to frown while listening to Guy Sebastian’s “Like It Like That.”

2. Jessica Mauboy had a few great dance tunes this year, but for me “Up/Down” takes the cake.

3. It couldn’t be a 2009 countdown without a little Empire of the Sun. I went for “We Are the People,” simply because it didn’t get overplayed as much as “Walking on a Dream”!

4. It’s rockier than most of the tracks which made the cut, but “Cassandra” from The Galvatrons is a great excuse for playing a little air guitar.

5. Another tune combining rock and pop influences, Cassie Davis’ “Differently” had me singing into my hairbrush this year.

6. Sarah McLeod made a welcome return to the local music scene with “Tell Your Story Walking.” This is Pat Benatar with a dose of dance cred.

7. Speaking of comebacks, it was wonderful to hear from Vanessa Amorosi again this year. As it turns out, “This Is Who I Am,” released a couple of months ago, was her biggest hit!

8. When you’re struggling to find the words to describe the New Year’s Eve experience, just look to Wes Carr and “Feels Like Woah”!

9. It might sound like middle-of-the-road pop, but the nasty lyrics of Ricki-Lee Coulter’s “Don’t Miss You,” added any extra dimension to this dancefloor hit.

10. Remember this one? Kaz James teamed up with Macy Gray for “Can’t Hold Back” in January, but it still sounds just as fresh.
