Finabah Want You to Jump!

With their new single “Everyone Jump (When They Tell You How High)” enjoying solid air play, NA2R rock winners Finabah are shaping up as an Aussie act to watch in 2010.

The song showcases the band’s trademark rock-pop sound and catchy melodies. Underneath that radio-friendly sound, the band said there’s a real message.

“The track was heavily inspired by the modern fashion industry, and everyone’s struggle to be different,” explained bassist Brendan Langfield. “It seems a lot of the time people are so concerned with being ‘trendy’ and ‘unique’ that they forget about who they really are”.

Following an east coast tour in February and March, the band will take their tunes to the kids as part of the 2010 Rock the Schools tour. The government initiative sees the band performing more than 25 shows to more than 15, 000 students, and giving them a hands-on lesson about rock and roll. They certainly weren’t teaching that when I was at school!

Before that, make sure you get out and support this exciting unsigned act on their Everybody Jump tour!

The Black Ryder Release New Video, Aimee Scores New Moon Soundtrack Slot

The Black Ryder has released a stunning video for “Sweet Come Down.” The haunting song comes from the band’s highly anticipated debut, Buy The Ticket, Take the Ride, which hits stores on November 6.

The song is a fan favourite, with Aimee Nash and Scott Ryper sharing vocal duties and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s Peter Hayes on harmonica.

The accompanying clip is more short film than traditional music video, with acclaimed director Michael Spiccia and cinematographer Stefan Duscio at the helm. The wilds of south west New South Wales become a beautiful and foreboding landscape for the scene, which takes place after a mysterious tragedy.

The Black Ryder fans should look out for Aimee moonlighting on the new Black Rebel Motorcycle track, “Done All Wrong.” The song, which features Aimee’s ethereal vocals, is featured on the recently released Twilight – New Moon soundtrack.

The Black Ryder will celebrate the release of Buy The Ticket, Take the Ride with a show at The Tote Bar in Melbourne on November 19. The band will play alongside Killed Two Birds, Slight of Build, and Dreaming of Ghosts. It’s their very last show this year, so make sure you don’t miss it!

Shannon Noll and Street Warriors Cover "Solid Rock"

Shannon Noll has teamed up with indigenous hip hoppers Street Warriors to revamp an Australian classic, the Goanna hit “Solid Rock.”

The combination of hip hop beats and rock guitars breathes new life into the 1982 anthem which sang of the displacement of Aboriginal tribes during Australia’s white settlement. The themes made the song particularly poignant for the Street Warriors.

“If everyone practices respect – for land, for country, for each other, most of our problems would disappear,” said one half of the group, Abie Wright.

The video saw Shannon and the band headed to the Gommeroi Land around Gunnedah. The song pays homage to the Street Warriors’ ancestor, Red Chief Kangaroo, and they shot part of the video in the Red Chief Cave in his honour. Check it out below!

The song, which combines art-rock, classic pop, and indie elements, was recorded with the band’s producer and mentor, Robert Forster of The Go-Betweens. He’s brought out a spontaneous and energetic sound from the band, while allowing them the freedom to experiment. The band loves to tell stories about dysfunctional relationships. In the case of “Masochist,” we hear the story of a man who can’t apply himself to love.

It's All About Hugh Sheridan!

Here’s our first sneak peek at the cover art for “All About Me,” the debut single from Packed to the Rafters’ star Hugh Sheridan.

The track was written by Rob Wells and Matthew Marston, who’ve also penned tracks for Backstreet Boys, Mika, Olivia Newton-John, Cyndi Lauper, and Vanessa Amorosi. Clearly they know what it takes to create a hit!

“All About Me” will go to radio this week ahead of its official release on October 19. It’s the latest taste of Hugh’s new album Speak Love, which is set to drop on November 27. The CD also includes the recent hit “Just Can’t Throw Us Away.”

Ricki-Lee Coulter's Raunchy New Clip

Since splitting with her ex-husband James Babbington last year, Ricki-Lee Coulter has ditched the nice girl image for some saucy pop tracks. Coming hot off the heels off “Don’t Miss You” comes another angry girl anthem, “Hear No See No Speak No.”

“It’s about getting to the point of strength in yourself where you just don’t want to hear someone’s voice,” she explains. “You no longer want to see their face or see the same situations reoccurring. And you no longer want to talk it out anymore.”

And nothing says strength like a dominatrix, so Ricki Lee’s donning the latex and fishnet stockings for the sexy clip. She plays a woman wronged who meets a mystery man, played by Gold Coast Titans player Daniel Conn. He faces a serious grilling at the hands of Ricki and her whip!

It all sounds quite controversial, so it’ll be interesting to see whether Video Hits plays a toned-down version this Saturday. The single hits radio today ahead of its official release on October 23.

Eskimo Joe Live It Up in "Don't Let Me Down"

I am loving the video for Eskimo Joe’s latest single, “Don’t Let Me Down.” When I heard this song on Inshalla, I never imagined it’d get such a cheeky video! Kav Temperley has his hands full with a bevy of aspiring Mrs Robinsons. Although, he doesn’t seem anywhere near as shy as Dustin Hoffman’s Benjamin Braddock!

Download Free Amber Lawrence Track

Country starlet Amber Lawrence is offering fans a free download of her new song, “When It All Comes Down.” The tune is the title track from Amber’s sophomore album, which is in stores now.

The emotional song was penned as a tribute to her father, who died of leukaemia in 2008.

“This is the title track of the album, and the most truthful and heartfelt song on the album,” she explained. “This song asks some pretty hard questions about what life is all about. I wrote this song last year, as I spent the most part of 2008 walking Corridor 10 of the Prince of Wales hospital – visiting my dad as he battled leukaemia.

“Although we lost my Dad, the song has a happy ending – answering what my family and I found out to be the meaning of 2008 – that “When it all comes down to it … it all comes down to love.”
