Mia Dyson Gives Away Long Awaited New Music

Mia Dyson made a big impression on the Australian music charts in the last naughties, but seemed to disappear just as quickly. But it turns out she didn’t give up the dream; she just relocated it to the United States.

After three years touring America with big name artists like Stevie Nicks, Dave Stewart, and Chris Isaak, Mia’s reconnecting with her local fans. The independent artist askedmusic lovers to pre-order her new album through the Pledge Music campaign. These donations will then go towards funding the release. She actually raised enough to make the album in just one week, so Mia wants to say thanks for the support.

Which brings me to “Tell Me,” an achingly gorgeous new track that Mia’s giving away to her fans.

“Tell Me is a track I felt would really resonate with fans of my previous albums,” she explained. “It gives a hint of what I’ve been up to in the studio, so I really wanted fans to hear it first, before we get to the craziness of an album campaign later in the year!”

You can hear the song here, and if you like it just sign up to the Mia Dyson mailing list for the free download. Hopefully that will tide you over until the new album, dubbed The Moment, hits stores in August.

The Floors Tour Bluesy Debut Single

Down and dirty Perth blues rock trio The Floors are unleashing their music on the nation with the release of “You Got to Move.” It’s the first single from The Floors debut album, which will hit record stores in a couple of months.

There’s something so sexy about the snarling lyrics and gritty base line of this soulful track. It seems so spontaneous and free of studio trickery that I imagine it’d be even more explosive on the stage. And that’s a good thing too, because The Floors will tour the single next month.

Tehachapi’s Cool New Clip

Tehachapi are proving themselves to be modern hippies with their trippy name and psychedelic single “Her Love is a Mountain, Truth in Her Fountain.”

I think the quartet’s a bit too generous with the reverb but there’s something about the haunting vocals are so compelling. There’s definitely something there that, even though the track’s not perfect. And I love the music video, especially the start where all those hands are doing their best to get glum souls to smile.

“Her Love is a Mountain, Truth in Her Fountain” is the first track lifted from the band’s debut EP Land of Four Seasons. Keep your ear to the ground, or your eyes on this blog, as Tehachapi plans to take the disc on the road soon.

N’Fa Jones Releases Fab Stop-Motion Animation Music Video for “March On”

N’Fa Jones has blown my mind with the video for his new single “March On.”

The clip sees the former 1200 Techniques frontman singing along some cute little cartoon critters. The Grizzly Brothers worked on the clip which was shot live using stop-motion animation techniques. There’s right, there was no post-production to clean it up. Impressive stuff indeed!

The cool clip is just what N’Fa needs to promote his new EP Babylon, which hits music stores everywhere on April 6. To celebrate its release N’Fa will play the following launch shows around the country. Tickets are on sale from Moshtix now.

Things are on the up for Jacob Butler. Fresh from the release of his new single “Come My Way,” the X Factor and Australian Idol graduate has inked a record deal with South Africa’s The David Gresham Company, the same independent label that takes care of The Temper Trap, Placebo, Nickelback, and Bush.

The deal will expose Jacob’s work to music lovers in South Africa and its territories, including Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. “Come My Way” will hit the nation’s radio waves in the coming weeks.

Butterfly Boucher Comes Home

Nashville based singer-songwriter Butterfly Boucher has returned home to launch her impressive new single “5678!”

The track was recently named the single of the week on iTunes Australia, and it was also on the soundtrack of a recent Private Practice episode. And don’t you just love a single with an exclamation mark? It comes from her new album Butterfly Boucher, which hits stores on April 13. While it’s not her first release the self-titled moniker is appropriate, as it’s her first as an independent artist.

Butterfly Boucher’s tour kicks off tomorrow night in Melbourne before traveling through New South Wales and the ACT. Local appearances from this Adelaide born artist are rare, so see her at home while you can!

21 March 2012 – Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
22 March 2012 – The Front Gallery Café, Canberra
24 March 2012 – The Vanguard, Sydney
25 March 2012 – The Brass Monkey, Cronulla

We Are the Birdcage Wow with “Two Left Feet”

Sydney folk duo We Are the Birdcage has well and truly charmed me with their beautiful new single “Two Left Feet.”

The song tells of the missteps we all take in relationships. It sounds so gentle, but there’s real emotion behind those lush harmonies and the swell of the instruments. I am truly swept off my feet by this song, and can’t wait to hear more from this twosome.

It seems it’s time for me to track down the EP. “Two Left Feet” is the first single lifted from the Little Father Time, a disc that will further ponder love, loss, and other universally binding themes. I’m sure I’m not the only one begging for seconds!
