Ama Drops New Pop Gem, “You’re never gonna get the girl”

According to my Spotify Wrapped, Ama was my most played Aussie artist of the year. Her heart-on-sleeve pop numbers really got under my skin, and I had every single on repeat for a while. So I’m thrilled that she’s giving us one more track to close out the year. “You’re never gonna get the girl” is Ama’s first release since her debut EP Julie’s House dropped in May, and it’s probably no surprise that I love it.

Ama has such a gift for writing songs that combine self-aware humour with bittersweet emotion, and “You’re never gonna get the girl.” The gentle layered pop sound reminds me a lot of the music LANY released on their soft album this year, undeniably catchy but acting as the support for the strong lyrics rather than attempting to steal focus.

Ama’s music has made such a strong impression on me this year. With the start of this new chapter, something tells me she’s going to follow up with a massive 2026.

“Julie’s House” – Ama

After wowing me with her relatable pop songs for nearly a year, Ama has released her debut EP. Julie’s House is a gorgeous collection of coming-of-age songs that has really struck a chord with me.

It’s been a long time since I was caught in the throes of infatuation, but I don’t think those feelings ever leave you. Listening to Ama’s music brings back all the insecurities and heightened emotions we all experience as we’re trying to figure things out. Ama articulates them so beautifully, with songwriting that’s achingly honest. She’s also got an incredible knack for melody. These are some of the catchiest songs I’ve heard. I also love her voice, warm, pure, and emotive. She makes listening such a joy.

Julie’s House features some of Ama’s best singles including “Metro Girl” and “Bite.” They sit perfectly alongside undiscovered gems like the wistful closer “If i dated a guy” and the epic title track. This EP was inspired by Ama’s feelings for the same girl she met online, and it’s fascinating to learn about that relationship through this collection of songs.

Julie’s House is a fantastic EP from one of Australia’s best emerging pop acts. It’s out now on Spotify and all your favourite streaming services.

Ama Releases Quirky New Single, “Metro Girl”

I’m feeling like a lot less of a weirdo after hearing “Metro Girl,” the latest single from Western Eora/Sydney singer-songwriter, Ama.

“You ever wonder if that person you miss would come visit you in the hospital if you got hit by a car?” she asked. “Yeah… ‘Metro Girl’ is that song.”

And I’ll be honest, I thought I was the only one who let my mind wander and create such insane, improbable scenarios. I feel seen. Lyrical connection aside, I also really appreciate hearing Ama stripping things back for this song. Most of “Metro Girl” sees Ama accompanied by just an acoustic guitar, so we can hear every lyric and her insanely good vocals.

“Metro Girl” showcases yet another side to Ama’s artistry and I’m here for it. Who else can’t wait to hear her next one?

Ama Shows Her Teeth With “Bite”

There’s something so special about hearing an artist step into their power. I’ve been a long-time fan of Ama’s music, but she takes it up a few notches with the release of her latest single “Bite.” Just wait until that beat drops and you hear her unleash on this angsty tune.

This song is a bit of a different vibe for Ama. Her previous releases have seen her squarely in the pop lane, but “Bite” has much more of a rock edge. Something tells me we’re just starting to get a taste of everything this talented local artist is capable of. Follow Ama on her socials to learn more about her new music as it drops.

Ama Drops Latest Perfect Pop Track, “Employee”

Prolific local pop act Ama continues to pump out the tunes, yet the quality never seems to dip. Her latest single “Employee” is an ultra-catchy bop that’ll resonate with anyone who’s suffered through a one-sided relationship.

“It’s the perfect soundtrack for anyone desperately giving their constant attention to a person; kinda like a full-time job,” Ama explained.

“Employee” is just one of the fresh tunes featured on my playlist Sounds of Oz Loves Pop. Stream them all on Spotify.

AMA and Jordan Everett Release Fantastic Duet, “SKIN”

Local singer-songwriter AMA has teamed up with Los Angeles-based talent Jordan Everett for a new single called “SKIN.” It’s cute and super catchy. The chemistry between these two artists really shines through the recording.

This is AMA’s first collaboration and it sounds like she was pinching herself after getting the opportunity to work with one of her favourites.

“I’ve been a huge fan of him from years and it’s such a surreal moment to actually have a track out with him,” she said. “It’s super fun but also chaotic with just enough edge to keep you on your toes.”

AMA seems to go from strength to strength. I’ve loved everything I’ve heard, which is phenomenal considering she’s so young and still finding her feet in the music industry. I can’t wait to hear more from this local talent.

Ama Impresses With “not ur fkn fan”

If you hoped for a happy ending after listening to Ama’s last single “How to Fall in Love,” I’m sorry to disappoint you. Her latest track “not ur fkn fan” was inspired by the same girl, so needless to say things didn’t go well!

While I’d hoped that the infatuation Ama captured so beautifully with her last release might blossom into something more, we would have missed out on this alt-pop belter. I love the way Ama’s emotions simmer under her delicate vocals. You can hear her frustration, and her heartache, with every line.

This song is still so fresh, but Ama’s already announced her follow-up “Sucks” will drop on August 23. Sounds like another angsty one from this Western Eora/Sydney talent. I can’t wait!

Ama Releases Fantastic New Single, “How to Fall in Love”

Ama’s giving me all the feels with her latest alt-pop track, “How to Fall in Love.” It’s such a relatable love song that perfectly expresses those heady early days of infatuation.

The lyrics are so spot on that I was impressed to read on Ama’s Instagram that it’s the first love song she ever wrote. The track also speaks to the intimacy people can develop online, because it was inspired by a girl that Ama hadn’t met in person. I’m not sure whether it worked out or not, but she got an amazing song from the experience!

Ama Releases Relatable New Bop, “Unavailable”

If you’ve ever found yourself inexplicably drawn to someone that’s emotionally unavailable, you’re going to love Ama’s new song “Unavailable.” It’s got a bit of a rock edge with all the pop vibes that made me love her last track “Car Sex.” Because if you’re going to torture yourself over someone, you at least want to have a good time singing about it, right? Whether you’re still pining over the wrong person or glad you’ve cut ties, you’ll want to turn “Unavailable” up.

Listen to Ama’s Hot New Single, “Car Sex”

Eora/Sydney artist Ama encapsulates all the uncertainty and complexity of modern connections in her gorgeous new indie-pop single “Car Sex.” The attention-grabbing title might convince you to press play, but her confessional lyrics and heartfelt vocals will convince you to put it on repeat.

“‘Car Sex’ is about a relationship that only existed within the confines of a car. I wrote it about getting too attached during a friends-with-benefits fling and all the feelings that come with a one-sided situationship,” Ama explained. “With these kinds of relationships you know what you’re getting yourself into, and yet when the inevitable downfall happens it’s like ‘woah, who could’ve seen this coming?’”

If you love acts like Olivia Rodrigo and Renee Rapp, I know you’ll adore Ama and this fabulous song.
