Bad Juju Unleash EP Title Track, “Simulacra”

Hold onto your hats and press play on “Simulacra,” the massive title track from Naarm/Melbourne alternative rock act Bad Juju’s forthcoming EP. This track hits a lot harder than most of the music I’m into, but something about its nu-metal vibes has captured my heart. We don’t question; we just press play and bang our heads along with the beat.

“The expectation of perfection in so many aspects of life is becoming harder for the average person to keep up with,” the band explained. “Whether it’s real art vs AI, or real life vs what is posted on social media platforms – we are constantly pushing towards a faker version of the real world. This song is about pushing back against a robotic digital future, where our online self is almost a stranger to our true self and our ideas are know longer our own.”

Bad Juju’s Simulacra EP drops on October 24. You can preorder a vinyl copy now. They’ll also play Converge Festival’s two dates this month.

Bad Juju Drop Positive New Single “In The Clouds”

Melbourne alternative rock act Bad Juju are showing a slightly softer side with their latest single “In the Clouds.” The track’s still got a hard rock edge, but its lyrics are a little more sentimental than we’re used to. Just see if you can resist singing along to its anthemic chorus.

“The song is about ignoring people who tell you your dreams are out of reach and pursuing your goals regardless of what others say about them,” explained frontman Russell Holland.

Bad Juju will launch the single for their hometown fans at The Workers Club on June 5. If you’ve ever caught these guys live, you know you won’t want to miss it. After COVID lockdowns wrote off live music for 2020, they’ll be itching to put on a show for a local audience.

Bad Juju Rock Out With “Say It”

Melbourne rock act Bad Juju are giving me retro ’90 vibes with their grungy new single “Say It.” It’s all angst and heart, with powerful lyrics that touch on the turmoil of mental health issues and the importance of making self-healing a priority.

“The song is about standing up to someone you disagree with, but have never had the courage to go up against,” frontman Russell Holland explained. “It’s about having the courage to say no, by sticking to your guns and saying what you believe in.”

The clip, filmed by Jackson Wester, is also first-rate. With all the right ingredients coming together, I can’t wait to hear more from these guys.
