Sarah McLeod and Dallas Frasca Duet Ahead of Green Electric Tour

If you were on the fence about seeing Sarah McLeod and Dallas Frasca on their Green Electric Tour, the release of their latest single “’Til It’s Gone” might tip you over the edge. Hearing these two vocal powerhouses on the one track is an absolute joy. It’s bluesy, edgy, and so incredibly cool.

“The song was inspired by a line in ‘Big Yellow Taxi,’ written more than half a century ago, and it’s confronting how little has changed,” Sarah and Dallas said in a joint statement. “We’re still prioritising profit over care for country, and the climate is pushing back hard. ‘Til It’s Gone’ speaks to the moment we’re in right now, a crossroads, and the responsibility we all share to make better choices before the damage becomes irreversible.”

Sarah and Dallas don’t just pay lip service to the issues. They’ve teamed up with Green Music Australia for their upcoming tour to reduce their carbon footprint through initiatives like plotting sustainable travel routes, using meet-free catering and eco-certified accommodation, and selling merch made from recycled materials. They’re encouraging fans to get in on the act too by choosing low-emission transport options and wearing sustainable fashion to the shows. The Green Electric Tour kicks off on February 19 in Bungambrawatha/Albury. Tickets for all shows are still available but won’t last long!

Sarah McLeod and Dallas Frasca Team Up For Green Electric Tour

Sarah McLeod and Dallas Frasca are two of the country’s best female rock talents. So you know that their upcoming Green Electric tour is bound to be an incredible time.

The tour’s name doesn’t just play lip service to sustainable trends. Sarah and Dallas have teamed up with Green Music Australia to use inset emissions strategies which will reduce and offset the environmental impact of these shows and time on the road. Think merchandise made from recycled materials, sustainable travel routes, eco-certified accommodation, and meat-free catering. This tour also supports Seed Mob, Australia’s first Indigenous youth-led climate justice organisation.

“We wanted to do something that wasn’t just loud — but meaningful,” Sarah said. “If rock and roll can’t lead the charge for change, what can?”

While the message matters, it won’t compromise the rock. You can expect plenty of Sarah and Dallas’ original hits and brand new collaborations when this talented twosome hits the stage. Tickets are on sale now:

Join Dallas Frasca on Tour With A Hitch to the Sticks Festival

If you’ve ever wanted to live the rock and roll lifestyle on a tour bus, now you get your chance thanks to Dallas Frasca’s revolutionary new music festival, A Hitch to the Sticks.

This unique band-tour-meets-VIP-experience will see 50 music fans spending three days on a regional tour bus with Dallas and some special guests including Nicky Bomba and Liv Cartledge. The bus leaves from Melbourne on March 16 and heads north to six secret locations and four public events across Violet Town, Lima, Myrrhee, Tatong, Thoona, Wangaratta, and Moyhu. I’ve got to admit, I haven’t even heard of half those places, so I assume they don’t get a lot of live music! Along the way, ticket holders will take part in a hedge maze “artist hunt” to find live local artists, a rock and roll slumber party, meet celebrity hitchhikers, and see a performance by a special international mystery guest.

There are still some bus tickets remaining as I write this, but since there are just 50 I don’t expect them to last long. If you miss out, you can catch up with Dallas and the passengers at the public events, like the Down by the River Festival in Wangaratta. Keep an eye on the A Hitch to the Sticks website for details of public event. Festival tickets are also available through the site.

Dallas Frasca Rocks On

After just wrapping up more than 30 shows, no one would blame Dallas Frasca for taking a breather. But that’s just not her style. She’s just announced the final launch dates for her Sound Painter album.

The announcement of the new shows comes with the release of a gutsy new single, “Anything Left to Wonder.” Can any other woman in Australia rock out like Dallas?

If you’re impressed by Dallas’ ball-tearing style make sure you see her live at one of the following festivals or headlining shows.

12 October 2012 – The Prince Of Wales, Melbourne
19 October 2012 – Backwater Blues Fest, Adelaide
26 October 2012 – Live at The Wall @ Bald Face Stag, Sydney
27 October 2012 – The Cambridge, Wollongong
2-3 November 2012 – Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Wangaratta

Dallas Frasca Back with “All My Love”

It’s been a long time coming, but Dallas Frasca is almost ready to release her sophomore album Sound Painter.

I remember being blown away by Dallas when I saw her play at a Hunter Valley blues festival way back in 2008, and I’m thrilled to see the years haven’t mellowed her though. There’s a bit more polish to her raspy sound though, which may have come from working with acclaimed producer Andy Baldwin in New York.

Whatever it is, I’m impressed by our first taste of the album, the new single “All My Love.” It sounds great and the film clip looks much better than I’d expect for her $2.49 budget!

Andy Baldwin hasn’t polished all the edges from Dallas though. She chose to record the album with no click tracks to keep it raw and honest, with the sort of spontaneous sound that comes from a live performance. She worked with her band to smash out eleven songs in just seven days, with most numbers captured in their first or second take.

What you see is what you get with Dallas Frasca. If you want to see more of her make sure you catch her on her All My Love tour, which starts tomorrow in Adelaide. Her new album Sound Painter hits stores on April 1.
