Dane Tutty Wows Me With New Songs

Mulubinba/Newcastle singer-songwriter Dane Tutty continues to impress me with his heartfelt music. His latest release is “Diamonds/Stay,” a double A-side single with two incredible songs that I know you’ll love as much as I do.

“’Diamonds’ is penned as a letter to my son as he navigated hard times in a relationship,” Dane explained. “And ‘Stay,’ a song written in the wake of one of too many funerals from suicide this year.”

These songs are as impactful as their subject matter suggests. Dane has such a gift for translating his emotions into songs that are both moving and magical. Take a moment to listen to these ones, because they deserve your full attention.

Dane Tutty Releases Latest Raw Rock Track, “I Used to Be Someone”

We can always count on Dane Tutty to keep it real. His music is always authentic, with raw, introspective lyrics and powerful vocals that belie the emotions simmering just underneath the surface. If you’re seeking out a song you really connect with, take a listen to his latest track, “I Used to Be Someone.”

“This song is for anyone who’s ever felt like they’ve outgrown a friendship, or been outgrown,” Dane explained. “It’s a reminder that change is a natural part of life, but it still haunts you years and years after.”

“I Used to Be Someone” is the latest track lifted from a larger body of work that Dane plans to drop later this year. Expect him to announce some intimate shows soon to celebrate that release.

Dane Tutty and Jen Buxton Team Up Again for “burning alive”

With the release of “burning alive,” Mulubinba/Newcastle singer-songwriters Dane Tutty and Jen Buxton have provided us with the final puzzle piece of their EP, if it all burns down. I’ve already covered previous tracks “church” and “i don’t want to do this forever” on Sounds of Oz, and this one is every bit as good.

“burning alive” sits sandwiched between the past singles on this EP, acting as a kind of bridge between them. I love the natural chemistry between Dane and Jen’s very different voices, the way her pure tones soften his hard edges. The lyrics, written from the perspective of someone battling mental health issues, are also so powerful.

“Myself and so many people around me are or have been affected hugely by these things (suicide and mental health), I couldn’t help writing about it,” Dane explained.

While Dane and Jen haven’t announced any shows together at this stage, they also haven’t ruled them out. Here’s hoping. Until then, wrap your ears around “burning alive,” then revisit the rest of their music on if it all burns down. Dane Tutty Releases Powerful New Single, “Little Fears”

Mulubinba/Newcastle-based singer-songwriter Dane Tutty is one of those artists who never seems to put a foot wrong. His latest single “Little Fears” is the latest in a string of tracks characterised by emotional vocals and revealingly honest lyrics.

“Most nights at the moment I get high and just try to write a song, basically just cross my fingers as I go to sleep and hope when I wake up and listen to what I recorded it is half decent,” Dane admitted. “They are generally quite bad to be honest, but ‘Little Fears’ was one that worked. ‘Little Fears’ stems directly from those late nights – and is written about how I sit awake some nights while everyone in the house is asleep and have really terrible thoughts.

There’s more music on the way for Dane, who plans to release his third EP later this year.

Dane Tutty Impresses With New Single “I don’t want to do this forever”

Mulubinba/Newcastle-based singer-songwriter Dane Tutty has released a powerful new single, “I don’t want to do this forever.” Like his previous single “Church,” it features Jen Buxton on guest vocals. It’s a little heavier than that track, but the pair deliver it with all the conviction that drew me to the previous release. In a world of music that often gets overproduced, it’s so exciting to hear something that’s so raw and authentic.

“The song’s topic isn’t really that easy to describe,” Dane admitted, “It’s more of a collaboration of feelings and experiences of myself and people around me melted into two minutes and 25 seconds”

“I don’t want to do this forever” comes from Dane’s forthcoming EP, scheduled for release later this year.

Dane Tutty and Jen Buxton Duet On “church”

Mulubinba/Newcastle alt-folk artist Dane Tutty has teamed up with fellow Novacastrian Jen Buxton for a fantastic new single “church.” I love the way Dane’s textured vocals contrast with Jen’s sweeter ones. You can hear the emotion in their voices as they sing this powerful duet. It’s really good stuff.

“church” gives us our first taste of Dane’s upcoming EP. If this song is any indication, it’s going to be pretty special!
