Harrison Storm and Winona Oak Duet On “Someone Else”

Local singer-songwriter Harrison Storm has teamed up with Sweden’s Winona Oak for a beautiful new single, “Someone Else.” I’m always a sucker for an indie-folk duet, and this one hits all the right notes. Harrison cowrote this one with his friend and collaborator Brittony May, who was experiencing a breakup at the time. Winona’s ethereal vocals and production from fellow Swede Freddy Alexander took “Someone Else” to the next level.

“There is a particular kind of ache that comes from watching a friend go through a breakup,” Harrison admitted. “Sometimes it can feel like you’re on the sidelines, watching it all unfold at arm’s length, able to offer support but unable to stop what’s happening. You become a resting place for them at times, available and present while they navigate the emotional turbulence. All you can really do is become an anchor point of warmth and wait for them as the dust begins to settle.”

“Someone Else” comes from Harrison’s new album, Empty Garden, which drops on October 3. That’s not so coincidentally the day Harrison kicks off his album tour with the first of two Aussie shows before he heads to Europe and the United Kingdom.

Harrison Storm Releases Calming New Single, “Find A Way”

Harrison Storm is injecting a little folky goodness into your Thursday with his gorgeous new single “Find A Way.” Penned in a quiet moment during a solo cabin retreat, it’s a celebration of self-care and comfort that so many of us need.

“This song is a conversation between myself and the anxious part of me that I have been nurturing for years. The part that doesn’t feel safe in the world,” Harrison explained. “It’s a very literal song in that sense. The place I’m singing from is the calm, peaceful, and compassionate part of me that exists within, and the version of myself I’m singing to is this part that needs a lot of care and support.”

“Find A Way” gives us our first taste of Harrison’s sophomore album, which he’ll release later this year. He’ll play a couple of shows here in Australia before heading to the United Kingdom and Europe in November. Here are all the dates you need:

Harrison Storm & Emily Rink Join Forces For “Call Me When You Get In”

Harrison Storm has teamed up with Emily Rink for a spine-tingling new single “Call Me When You Get In.” It explores the journey through grief on the path to healing that’s necessary when recovering from a relationship breakdown.

“The writing of this song came together in a very beautiful and easy way,” Harrison recalled. “It was one of those sessions where we were able to get vulnerable quite quickly. We shared some personal stories and I started playing around with some simple chords. Emily’s melodies started flowing effortlessly as she’s incredibly talented and we both sat back to let the emotional melodies inform the story of the song.

Harrison said the song went to another level when they began working with producer Matt Corby.

“It was so perfect and exciting to work with Matt Corby on this one for production. He brought such immediate soul and heart to this song. The days Emily and I spent in the studio with him were unforgettable and very creative.”

Harrison is currently touring the country with Canadian indie-folk act Wild Rivers. If you’ve got a ticket, make sure you arrive early enough for his set.

Harrison Storm Releases Beautiful Folk Song, “In Good Time”

Harrison Storm’s latest single, “In Good Time,” is one for the acoustic folk fans. It’s a beautiful understated song with a nostalgic feel that speaks right to the heart.

“I went away on a writing trip last year to work on songs for the album and after the first few days, I was struggling to write anything I connected with,” Harrison recalled of the time that inspired this new song. “Every now and then I listen to very old demos of mine, to remind me of why I started songwriting. The demo that came up was of a song of mine, ‘Sense Of Home’ and as I was listening to this very first demo I made of this song in particular, I had this wave of emotion come over me.

“It was this intense feeling of acknowledging the time that had passed since I first wrote that song and now. The immense changes I’ve gone through and how different life is. The difference in the person I was then and the person I am today. Yet I’m still here writing songs, the thing I dreamt I’d be able to do with my days. So ‘In Good Time’ is almost a reply to ‘Sense Of Home’, a reflection on the passing of time. It’s me talking to the person I was when I wrote ‘Sense of Home’ all those years ago.’

Harrison has been touring the eastern states showcasing his new music to Australian audiences for the very first time. You can still catch him at the following shows:
