The Bamboos Celebrate 25 Years With Album + Tour

I can’t quite believe The Bamboos have been releasing the funkiest music in the country for 25 years, but here we are. That fact could make us all feel old, or we could simply look ahead to all the wonderful things this milestone brings.

First there’s the deluxe compilation album The Bamboos Best, available on gatefold gold marble double LP or CD on July 25. It features 20 of the band’s best songs taken from their 12 albums, including many tracks that haven’t been available on vinyl since their initial release. You can preorder yours from Impressed Recordings here.

And if course The Bamboos do their best work on the stage, so we’ve got shows. You know they’re going to be massive, so if you’re a fan don’t miss them. Standard tickets and ticket bundles with the vinyl or CD are all available from the links below.

11 September 2025 – City Recital Hall, Eora/Sydney
13 September 2025 – Moorooka Block Party @ Peggs Park, Meeanjin/Brisbane (FREE)
20 September 2025 – Northcote Theatre, Naarm/Melbourne (Followed by a free afterparty at Northcote Theatre Mezzanine with DJs Kano and Lance Ferguson)

Sunset Sounds Bringing Free Summer Gigs to Melbourne

At this time of year, many of us are feeling the pinch. The organisers of Sunset Sounds understands this, so they’re brightening your summer with a series of hot free gigs across Melbourne.

The three free gigs will see the likes of Saskwatch, The Bamboos, and Jazz Party playing for local music lovers. Some of Melbourne’s most popular food trucks will also attend to keep everyone well fed.

“Stonnington has some of the most sensational parks and gardens, and it brings me great joy to see residents and visitors enjoying them” Mayor Stefanopoulos said. “Pack a picnic basket, and your dancing shoes, and head down for a summers afternoon with some of Australia’s finest talent.”

Sunset Sounds 2018 kicks off on January 7 and runs every Sunday for three weeks.

14 January 2018 – The Bamboos & Jazz Party, Central Park @ Malvern East

The Bamboos Announce “Fever in the Road” Shows

With their sixth album Fever in the Road scheduled to hit stores on November 8, The Bamboos just couldn’t wait to start planning the launch tour. Australia’s premier funk outfit will start playing shows to promote it just a couple of weeks after the release.

Fever in the Road saw The Bamboos’ reuniting with ARIA-nominated producer John Castle (Washington, Josh Pyke, Kate Miller-Heidke) and exploring lush new sounds. The Bamboos have such a stellar live reputation that the tracks are sure to sound even better on the stage.

The Bamboos promise to treat fans to new tunes as well as choice cuts from their entire back catalogue at the following shows.

29 November 2013 – The HiFi, Brisbane
30 November 2013 – The Factory, Sydney
5 December 2013 – Capitol, Perth
6 December 2013 – The Gov, Adelaide
7 December 2013 – The Forum, Melbourne

The Bamboos’ Kylie Auldist Enjoys Solo Success

Kylie Auldist first came to my attention as the sassy frontwoman of funk act The Bamboos. But apparently when she’s not strutting her stuff with the band, she makes her own solo music. Today she releases the single “Counting on You,” our first taste of her third album Still Life.

Due to drop on October 15, Still Life promises to be the album that sees Kylie truly make her mark as a solo album. It was co-written with her Bamboos bandmate Lance Ferguson, who helped her plum universally timeless themes like love and loss.

“Counting on You” is available now ahead of Still Life’s release.
