Sidney Moves On With “tenth of may”

Sidney starts a new personal and musical chapter with the release of her personal new single “tenth of may.” With her debut EP what if it ends? Sidney shared heartfelt songs penned in the lead-up to the end of her engagement. Now in her latest song she shares the emotions surrounding what was meant to be her wedding day. It’s a powerful track about resilience and moving forward when life doesn’t go quite as planned.

“On the 10th of May last year, I found myself in Nashville on a date where I thought I was supposed to be getting married here in Australia,” she recalled. “I’d gone through a massive breakup in 2024, and the previous record I put out, what if it ends? was all about the lead up to that breakup. I was like, I do not want to be in the country when that date comes around. So I used the savings I had for that wedding that was never going to happen and I bought tickets to go over there and write music. [tenth of may] just kind of fell out of me, and I realised how happy I was in the decision I’d made. A lot of my previous music has focused around love, and definitely romantic love. But moving into this new record…is a lot more of a wider perspective and reflecting over life and lessons and challenges way beyond that. Which is really exciting as an artist.”

What if it ends? is one of my favourite debut EPs ever, so I’m thrilled to hear more fabulous music from Sidney. This track is so special. Take a moment so you can properly soak up “tenth of may.”
