The Eagles Announce Aussie Tour

One of my biggest concert regrets is missing The Eagles when they played their Farewell Tour in 2004. I was heading to the United States not long after, and decided that saving for my trip was more important than catching one of the world’s most enduring country-rock talents. My parents called me during the encore and let me listen to “Hotel California,” “Rocky Mountain Way” and “Desperado” and I realised just how wrong I was.

As it turns out though, that Farewell Tour wasn’t their last goodbye to Oz. Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Glenn Frey, and Timothy B. Schmit are in their 60s now, but they’re promising us three solid hours of hits when they return to our shores in December.

Rest assured, I won’t make the same mistake I did in 2004. There’s no way I’m missing one of these shows. I’ll be hunched over my computer along with thousands of fans when tickets go on sale on June 28.

Yusuf Islam’s Australian tour is turning into a bit of a family affair. Yusuf’s son Yoriyos Adamos is the lead singer of his support act, Noxshi.

Understandably Yoriyos grew up around music, and that deep understanding translates into his own music. He formed Noxshi in 2008, a rock band which references the classic sounds of Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, and Pink Floyd.

Noxshi have just released their debut album The Way They Lush, which will reportedly hit our stores in September 2010. Along with the Yusuf Islam gigs, they’ll also play a handful of sideshows during their Aussie stay. Catch them at the following venues.

Owl City Returns for Headlining Tour

Geek chic electro-popster Adam Young, otherwise known as Owl City, is returning our fair shores for a tour this November.

Clearly the “Fireflies” singer enjoyed his last Aussie visit with Cobra Starship which was only a couple of months ago! It’s great to see him returning as a headliner.

If you agree, you can grab your tickets when they go on sale on Monday June 28. The shows are jammed in between appearances in Japan and New Zealand, so don’t expect any more if these sell out!

Blondie and The Pretenders Do Day on the Green

Blondie and The Pretenders are teaming up for one big Aussie tour, the first announced for the next A Day on the Green season. Sideshows have also been announced for Melbourne, Sydney, and Canberra.

While Blondie are releasing a new album Panic of Girls soon, I’ll be shocked if we don’t see a greatest hits style set from both of these monster acts. They’ll be joined on the tour by locals Adalita and Little Red.

Matt Corby Announces First Aussie Tour

You might remember Matt Corby as the reluctant sex symbol of Australia Idol Season 5. Losing out on the main prize seemed to be a blessing for Matt, who’s spent time away from the spotlight to hone his craft and create some incredible songs.

One such track is “Lighthome,” a live version of which is currently available as a free download at Matt’s website. If you like what you hear make sure you check out Matt on his first national tour this June and July.

Following those shows, Matt will join Mumford and Sons as support on their sold out Sydney shows. I’ve got myself some tickets to the Tuesday night gig, and am thrilled at Matt’s inclusion on the bill.
