“Bring Me Here” is the first offering from the band, a slow burner with ethereal vocals from Sophia Officer and an understated beat which keeps the tune ticking along. It sounds a bit more accomplished than your average debut, but the team from Fake Sibling has more than 20 years of live and studio experience between them.
After the promise of this single, I can’t wait to hear what comes next for Fake Sibling.
You know those voices that you just stop you in your tracks because they are so beautiful? You’re about to hear one.
This is Asha, a Central Coast songbird with skills beyond her 18 years. She’s been playing shows in Newcastle and Sydney and even scored supporting gigs with Alex Lloyd and Diesel. Now with the release of her debut single “Drowning,” she sure to step out of the shadows.
Her voice is divine, but she backs it up with some fierce songwriting skills. Asha wrote “Drowning” about a toxic relationship and then worked with producer Rod McCormack to create a sound which fused Asha’s love of acoustic music with modern electronica.
“This is the music that I want to keep creating. I’d love to keep evolving within this genre. But at the same time I’m not going to limit myself to anything,” Asha states. “Drowning was a song that I wrote and then forgot about. It wasn’t even going to make the EP. One day I was reminded of the song, and we ended up recording it and it even superseded the title track of the EP Illusions, as we chose it to be my debut single.”

One of this country’s finest blues singers, Jeff Lang, is ready to unleash a brand new album and he’s going to tour the country to celebrate it. Alone in Bad Company drops on February 24, roughly a month before this extensive tour kicks off.
This video for the lead single “Burnside” gives you a good indication of what you’re in for on this album and the tour. It really shows off his unparalleled guitar prowess and the album’s very organic, rootsy sound.

After touring the country with Kingswood this month, My Echo are ready to do it all again as the headliners. The Melbourne rockers will hit the road later this month to support the release of their long awaited debut album Brothers, which drops on March 3. It features the raucous new single “Meet You There.”
The name Brothers resonates with this band of surrogate siblings who showed their mateship when they rallied around lead singer Brenton Perry during a critical illness.
“We banded together and put everything with music on hold and focused our energy to supporting Brenton and letting him deal with his illness,” explained drummer Henry Hollingsworth. “I’m relieved beyond belief to say that he got back to full health.’”

It’s taken British rock band Thunder 27 years to make a trip Down Under. The band has released 20 Top 50 singles in their native UK, but this isn’t just a nostalgia tour. The band has a brand new single called “Rip It Up” and a new album with the same name set to drop on February 10.
You can expect Thunder to make it up to those Aussie fans who’ve been waiting since the late 80s for this tour. Tickets are on sale now.

Lisa Mitchell has unveiled the gorgeous new video for her latest, equally stunning single “Warhol.” This is truly an artistic release where the music and the images come together so perfectly.
“The song is slightly devastating for me, as it’s about a betrayal … I kept having visions of all these past and future ‘selves’ coming to my aid, embodying me, as I fled, to an altar hidden in the forest, where I knew I would be welcomed by the spirit of the shrine, ‘Warhol …’ For surely he would understand this madness?” Lisa said. “Back in the real world, I was stopped in my tracks when I saw a short-film of director Vanessa Gazy’s (Foal), which takes place at the edge of the forest in Australia where she grew up. I had an inkling she was the one who would direct this! I hunted her down and sure enough, she resonated so strongly with it and agreed to take the reins! All my gratitude goes to her, for taking a little seed from this wounded time and growing this two-part wilderness that became very much her own; something incredibly layered with meaning for us both.”

“Warhol” is the latest single from Lisa Mitchell’s most recent album Warriors.
Jackie Dee is something of a quiet achiever. I must admit, her music had escaped my attention but she’s about to release her third album, Six String Heart.
Perhaps that’s because Jackie is one of those artists that creates music that’s unassuming. She doesn’t have the biggest voice or the loudest music, but what she does she does very well. Her new single “Contemplating Life” gives us a taste of the new album and what she’s all about.
“We are all touched, moved, angered by the things we hear about in the news each day and it’s easy to despair. I wanted this song to have universal meaning, reaching all of us who sit and ponder the current state of our planet and society but at the same time the song encourages optimism and at its core it’s about the importance of our relationships,” Jackie explained.
Six String Heart isn’t afraid to tackle the big issues, with songs that touch on domestic violence and mental illness. It drops on February 17, after she launches the single and plays an album preview show at the 2017 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Jackie might have escaped my attention before, but I’m going to keep my ears out for this country songbird.
Former TISM frontman Damian Cowell is back with a brand new act, a great new song, and one of the most star-studded film clips you’re likely to see. “Come On Waleed,” an ode to the formidable Mr Aly, is the debut single from Damian Cowell’s Disco Machine.
“‘Come On Waleed’ is about all my heroes going down the S bend. While all else falls, Waleed’s left standing like the last person in musical chairs,” Damian explained. “He’s ubiquitous in the media, yet he’s got a brain and he’s not a fuckwit. Who’d have thought it possible?”
If you thought you’d seen stars in the video, you ain’t seen nothing yet. “Come On Waleed” is lifted from Get Yer Dag On!, Damian Cowell’s Disco Machine’s first album, which features guest stars like Henry Rollins, Josh Pyke, Henry Wagons, Pinky Beecroft, Ella Hooper, and heaps more. The band will play the following shows to support the album’s launch.

Hollow Coves has released a stunning new acoustic video ahead of their supporting duties for Woodlock. The stripped back clip, shot at a friend’s lake on Brisbane’s bayside, supports the release of their dreamy single “Coastline.” This is just the kind of song that makes you want to hang on to summer a little longer, all organic and delicate and relaxed.
Hollow Coves have a lot of momentum at the moment, with “Coastline” and the previous single “The Woods” both scoring the top spot on Hype Machine and more than 5 million streams of their songs on Spotify alone last year. No doubt the release of their EP Wanderlust on February 3 and the following shows with Woodlock will keep the hype around this exciting folk act growing.

“Messiah” might be one of the most played songs on Triple J at the moment and a favourite among Spotify users, but it’s taken me a little time to warm to M-Phazes’ collaboration with Alison Wonderland. I could tell it was an accomplished piece of work with a killer vocal performance from Alison Wonderland, but it still didn’t speak to me. But then I saw the film clip. And it all came together.
This clip is one of the most original music videos I’ve seen in months. Staring Dennis Cockrum, you’re likely to recall it whenever you sneeze and feel a sense of relief that you’re not afflicted with his particular condition! However of course, it does have its uses! The clip was shot on location in Los Angeles and features cameo appearances from both musicians.
