Super New Scott Spark Music Video

Scott Spark gets to live out his superhero fantasies in the film clip for his new single, the title track from his debut album Fail Like You Mean It.

There’s a touch of the Rufus Wainwright and Ben Folds about this quirky track, which holds a deeper meaning than its jaunty pop flavour might suggest. This is the first song Scott wrote after the death of his father, a time when he was “was thinking lots about death and failure, what they mean and how we deal with them … More or less it’s about getting friendly with whatever terrifies you the most. That’s not something you can avoid forever. Either you find it, or it finds you. And when those worst-case scenarios become reality, you learn pretty swiftly who’s got your back”.

“Fail Like You Mean It” is great fun; I can’t wait to see what comes next from this Brisbane-based singer songwriter!

Scott Spark Says “Fail Like You Mean It”

If you’re going to do something, you might as well do something right. That’s the philosophy of Scott Spark, a Brisbane based singer-songwriter who’s just released his cheekily named debut album Fail Like You Mean It.

The quirky album sees Scott wax lyrical about shift-work, strategies for outsmarting death, wanderlust at Christmas-time, and much more. It features guest appearances from a who’s who of the Aussie music industry including Washington, Regurgitator’s Seja Vogel, and Adele Pickvance from The Go-Betweens. Listen and you’ll also hear the strains of a toy piano, which Scott just happens to be giving away. Just join his mailing list before the tour begins and you’ll be in with a chance.

Speaking of that tour, Scott will play the following shows along the East Coast to celebrate the album’s September 3 release. You can also catch him supporting Washington around the traps, so make sure you get there early if you’re attending those shows!

30 September 2010 – The Toff in Town, Melbourne
7 October 2010 – The Vanguard, Sydney
8 October 2010 – The Zoo, Brisbane

About the Author

Lauren Katulka cannot remember a time when music was not a part of her life. Raised on an eclectic diet of Van Morrison, The Eagles, Cold Chisel, and Barbra Streisand, she remembers saving all her pocket money for weeks so she could buy cassettes featuring her favourite singers. At the tender age of 11 she saw her first live concert when Jimmy Barnes took his Soul Deep tour to Newcastle’s Civic Theatre. There was no looking back.

Today Lauren is a happily married freelance writer living on the New South Wales Central Coast. When she's not obsessing about the latest band, or some old favourite, she loves to roller-skate, experiment with new recipes, play pub trivia, and watch indie films.
