Naarm/Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Mat Rigby is wearing his heart on his sleeve with his debut single “Holdin’ On To You.” At first listen this folky track sounds like a song about his own lost love, but he was actually inspired by the breakdown of his parents’ marriage.
“The song’s about me navigating my parents’ separation, ‘Holdin’ On To’ a past version of me and my family,” Mat shared.
“Holdin’ On To You” is the first of many releases Mat has planned for 2026. You can hear some of his other originals when he launches this single at Wesley Anne in Wurundjeri-willam Country/Northcote on June 25.
