Nathan Lamont Shows His Softer Side With “What Comes After”

Nathan Lamont is showing us why there’s so much buzz about his music with the release of “What Comes After.” It’s more vulnerable and tender than the music Nathan’s released in the past. While I love his bops, I’m really resonating with this more emotional material.

“This song was born out of real-life experiences, both ours and those around us. For me personally, it’s deeply tied to moments in my relationship with my wife, moments where we stood right on the edge of walking away,” Nathan said. “It’s about choosing to fight for love when it would be easier to give up. It’s about pushing past the pride, digging into the memories of how it all began, and holding onto the belief that the story isn’t over yet.”

Nathan, who is a proud Wiradjuri man, recently became the first ever First Nations recipient of the CMAA Sister Cities Nashville Exchange. The opportunity will see him connecting with world-renowned producers, songwriters, and industry leaders in the USA’s country music capital. He’s also got a busy couple of months on local soil with the following shows:

31 August 2025 – Gympie Music Muster, Kabi Kabi Country/Gympie
27 September 2025 – Heartbeat of the Hunter @ Tocal Ag. College, Wonnarua Country/Tocal
1 November 2025 – Denman Wine, Food, & Film Affair, Wonnarua Country/Denman
14 November 2025 – Carnival of Cups @ Riverina Paceway, Wiradjuri Country/Wagga Wagga (FREE)

Nathan Lamont Off to Nashville After Scholarship Win

Wiradjuri Country/Wagga Wagga-based country artist Nathan Lamont has taken out this year’s CMAA Sister Cities Nashville Scholarship. The prize will see Nathan jetting off to the United States this September to represent the nation at Americanafest. While he’s in Nashville, Nathan will connect with leading songwriters, producers, and other industry figures.

“It means so much to me,” he said. “I feel a sense of obligation and responsibility to really give it everything — not just for myself, but to show what’s possible for others. I’m incredibly humbled. I don’t take it lightly. I realise just how massive and amazing this is. I’ve only been to Nashville once before – just one night on a holiday with my wife – and tried to soak up everything I could. Now I get to go back and actually do what I’ve always dreamed of doing.”

A proud Wurudjeri man, Nathan also added “I’m privileged to be the first black fella to go over as part of this scholarship. If I can inspire a young emerging First Nations artist to follow my journey, that would be the best thing to come out of this.”

Nathan’s plans for songwriting, attending workshops, and building on his existing connections with Aussie expats will no doubt help him edge closer towards completing his debut album.

“I’ve released single after single, but ticking off that album box is going to be a lifelong achievement for me. The money I was saving for this trip can now go into recording.”

I’m wishing Nathan all the best for his upcoming trip. Aussies still have a few more opportunities to see him perform before he leaves. He’ll also play Heartbeat of the Hunter on his return. Catch Nathan Lamont at the following shows:

16 May 2025 – Kickin’ Country @ Panthers, Mooroo Murak/Penrith
17 May 2025 – Country Music Raceday @ Kembla Grange Races, Dharawal Country/Kembla
28-31 August 2025 – Gympie Music Muster, Gimpi-Gimpi/Gympie
27 September 2025 – Heartbeat of the Hunter @ Tocal Agricultural College, Yimmang/Paterson

Nathan Lamont On the Up With “Bigger Things”

Fresh from his first headlining show at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Nathan Lamont shows he’s a star on the rise with “Bigger Things.” It’s a fabulous country-rock crossover track which reminds me of music from industry icons like Dan + Shay, Rascal Flatts, and our own Keith Urban. Nathan’s not imitating these artists though. Instead he shows he just might be their natural successor. The single saw Nathan working with MSquared (Michael Paynter and Michael DeLorenzis), who’ve previously written and produced hits with Aloe Blacc, Tina Arena, and Casey Barnes.

“This was my first time working with the MSquared fellas! We had so much fun working on this track together,” Nathan said. “I have been a big fan of their work for a long time so to have the opportunity to get in the studio with them, I knew we would cook up something amazing, and I feel like we achieved just that.”

While headlining a Tamworth Country Music Festival show is likely to remain one of the year’s highlights, Nathan’s got plenty of other exciting shows in store. Catch him promoting “Bigger Things” at the following gigs:

1 March 2025 – Country Music Night @ Glenorie RSL, Darug Country/Glenorie (FREE)
15 March 2025 – A Night In Nashville @ Orange Showgrounds, Wiradjuri Country/Orange (SOLD OUT)
11-12 April 2025 – Karijini Experience @ Karijini National Park, Banyjima, Kurrama, and Innawonga Country/Karijini (FREE)

Nathan Lamont Releases Country Bop, “Name on It”

Nathan Lamont effortlessly combines country, rock, and pop influences with his latest single “Name on It.”

“I wanted to highlight how love can completely upturn and transform a person’s outlook on life for the better, filling spaces we never knew were empty,” Nathan explained about the song he cowrote with his regular producer Alex Maher. “Alex and I have spent a lot of time in the studio together recording and songwriting, and we have many shared values and experiences when it comes to life and love.”

“Name On It” has already earned the seal of approval from none other than Keith Urban, who told Nathan to “keep it coming.” While Nathan looks up to Keith, his wife is arguably a bigger inspiration. His muse plays a starring role in the single’s film clip.

“I was excited to feature my wife in this project,” Nathan said. “She’s been the biggest source of inspiration behind my songwriting and has been on the sidelines supporting me since day one, so to have the opportunity to work with her so closely on something I love has only brought us even closer together.”

Nathan has already announced a couple of shows for next year, so don’t miss him if he’s playing near you!
