Joe Mungovan Releases Latest Rock Gem, “Runaway”

Joe Mungovan has got me grooving with his latest single “Runaway.” This one effortlessly blends synthy pop hooks with rock attitude. It’s a little Franz Ferdinand, a little Bloc Party, and a whole lot of fantastic.

“I once met this girl who couldn’t seem to stand still. She was always reaching for the next thing, daydreaming about our escape from our everyday lives … But the fantasy we shared was as fleeting as the girl,” Joe admitted. “‘Runaway’ is for her.”

Joe will mark the release of “Runaway” with a few New South Wales shows in the coming weeks. Catch him at the following venues:

27 March 2026 – Towradgi Beach Hotel, Dharawal Country/Towradgi (FREE – full band)
4 April 2026 – Sunset Sessions @ Cockatoo Island, Eora/Sydney (solo)
17 April 2026 – Chuck Trailers, Eora/Sydney (FREE – full band)

Sunday Lemonade Release Gorgeous New Single, “Runaway”

Sunday Lemonade are back to charm you all over again with “Runaway.” If you’re familiar with this Naarm/Melbourne duo, you know what you’re getting. Their organic folk songs are super sweet, with melodies that instantly lift you up and make you feel better about the world. This single doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but if it ain’t broken, why try fixing it?

“‘Runaway’ is a pop/folk story of reciprocated but unspoken lust, exploring the fascinating hints and moments with another human yet frustrating lack of courage to actually act on it,” the twosome explained. “The fairy tale dream of what would happen if that person would hurry up and grab your hand, take you on an adventure and you’d finally have the chance to fall in love.”

Sweet Lemonade will perform at the Passport To Airlie 2022 Finals, part of the Airlie Beach Festival of Music, Whitsunday Sailing Club in Ngaro Country/Airlie Beach on November 3.

Mardi Wilson Drops Superb New Single, “Runaway”

After sequestering ourselves away for a couple of weeks, most of us are probably getting a little stir-crazy. Given all that, Mardi Wilson’s new track “Runaway” has really struck a chord with me. It’s all about freedom, both the sense of liberty you get when exploring the world and when exploring a new love.

“I wrote ‘Runaway’ about when you meet a person and immediately feel that they will have some kind of impact on your life. Whether the person is there to stay or just passing through- this song is about being vulnerable, opening your heart to people, and growing from knowing them,” the Brisbane-based singer-songwriter revealed.

It’ll be a while until we see Mardi performing live again, but in the meantime check out her COVID covers on her Facebook page!

The Invicible Summer Turn Up the Heat with “Runaway”

Any band that takes inspiration from the works of existential author Albert Camus has enough to get me interested. The Invincible Summer takes its name from Camus’ quote “in the midst of winter, I found there was, within me … an Invincible Summer.”

The Sydney band seems to have taken the philosophy to heart, as their debut single “Runaway” delivers a healthy dose of optimism and warm weather vibes. The track comes from The Invincible Summer’s self-titled debut album, a real labour of love recorded in Sydney’s iconic Studios 301 over eighteen months.

“Runaway” is available on iTunes now. If you love it make sure you look out for The Invincible Summer’s debut album in stores in the first half of 2013.
