Ghost Care Spread Good Vibes With “Never Knew”

Boorloo/Perth indie-rock act Ghost Care have got me grooving with their latest track “Never Knew.” It’s such a melodic, feel-good number, perfect for your Friday.

“‘Never Knew’ was written for someone who is constantly giving full-time devotion to someone with zero return on investment. Giving gold but receiving ghost,” the band’s lead vocalist and guitarist Beau Torrance explained. Ghost Care wrote this one in the studio with Dave Parkin (Spacey Jane, South Summit) after getting into what they call a “flow state.”

“It was our first time working with a sample to get inspired and we really enjoyed that — it’s quickly become our favourite song and favourite one to play live,” Beau enthused. “Lyrically there is a nod to ‘Rolling Stone’ by Bob Dylan. I remember the feeling of hearing that song for the first time as a kid — it was my first time hearing a Dylan song. I was enamoured and couldn’t stop listening.”

Ghost Care will celebrate the launch of “Never Knew” by playing Foreshore Friday and supporting The Velvet Club in Boorloo/Perth before embarking on their own national tour. Catch them anywhere you can music lovers!

Ghost Care Release “So Long” Ahead of WA Shows

Western Australia’s Ghost Care are set for a massive month following the recent release of their new single “So Long.” They’ll launch the single with a headline show before rounding out the month supporting Ball Park Music at their sold-out shows in Walyalup/Fremantle.

Frontman Beau Torrance said “[‘So Long’] is about being with someone who is clueless to the fact that it’s over, and won’t acknowledge that they are not right for each other. It’s a song where you can say goodbye and good riddance with a bit of attitude – a good one for those people who maybe have ended a relationship, and want to move forward from the sad phase into the acceptance phase. We had a lot of fun bringing this one together in the studio.”

Western Australia, Ghost Care will treat you to the following shows this month. Hopefully they don’t leave fans on the East Coast hanging for too long!

Ghost Care Release Fun New Synth-Pop Single, “Arcade”

I didn’t expect indie-pop act Ghost Care to get turned on by classic rockers Creedence Clearwater Revival, but inspiration often comes in the most unlikely of places. Their latest single “Arcade” is more synth-driven pop than swamp rock, but Ghost Care found themselves inspired by the lyrical content of the classic band.

“The original idea was named ‘Dance’ on our voice memos, but when we dove into the lyrics we found that the name ‘Arcade’ fit the theme of love and a relationship being likened to a game. Inspired by a Creedence Clearwater Revival song, I loved the idea of not wanting to be on the bench and that if you want to win you have to feel like everyone is giving their all and that you are working as a team,” explained the band’s vocalist and guitarist, Beau Torrance. “We were playing this song originally as a guitar heavy driven song and it felt like it could stay there or we could take it somewhere we haven’t really been before. When we got to the studio, our producer Dave Parkin had the exact same mindset and it was then decided we should take it into the synth world.”

The music video, directed by fellow Western Australian Stephanie Senior, sees Beau and fellow vocalist Tanaya Harper duking it out in a video game arcade.

“We love this video clip so much! We knew we wanted fun whilst not being too funny, and Steph totally nailed the vibe,” Tanaya said. “We really had this idea of making a video that had this funky, neon atmosphere. Steph really took it to another level for us and we feel like we chose the perfect person for capturing the song’s energy!”

After recently touring in support of Spacey Jane, Ghost Care are packing up their tour bus and playing shows that kick off in their hometown tomorrow night. Catch them where you can:

Hit the Bussell Hwy with Ghost Care

With the Western Australian borders now open to triple-vaxxed travellers, many of us are thinking of a getaway to the Wildflower State. If you’re looking for a little inspiration, or a killer song for your playlist, check out “Bussell Hwy,” the latest track from Perth indie-rock trio Ghost Care.

“Bussell Hwy is all about the classic road trip! It’s where you’d rather be, and where you need to be and sometimes don’t realise,” the band said. “This song is about convincing your friends, and yourself, to get away from it all and just take a breather. This song is the nostalgia that we need, and the motivation to get back out there. We hope it can be everyone’s new road trip anthem for the future!”

Those open borders should help Ghost Care have a big 2022. They’ve just inked a deal with Tiny Triumphs management, and it shouldn’t be too long before we see them touring all over. Until then, local crowds can catch them launching “Bussell Hwy” at Scarborough’s Indian Ocean Hotel on April 8.
